Duke’s back to storytelling. “Like” Storytelling Duke on Facebook to catch all of the new tunes. Storytelling Duke’s just a man with an acoustic guitar and a banjo and the truth. And, he’s ready to share it with you all. Be warned, the truth can be a little raw and under-produced. If that’s what you’re into, enjoy. If you are not a fan of poorly recorded, demo-quality music that is at its lowest form consider a singer-songwriter sample, its only your fault if you’re still hanging around. Storytelling Duke don’t apologize.

Power to those who choose to go to an Occupy gathering and show their support for the Occupy cause. Wall St needs a little shaking.
However, if you’d prefer to be more effective on Wall St’s bottom line and would prefer to stay out of jail or refrain from being maced, here’s a better idea…check your consumerism.
Maybe you hold off on getting the newest iPhone (blasphemy you say). Maybe you cut back on your gasoline usage and ride a bike to work 3-4 times a week. Maybe you quit eating the brand name products from the grocery shelves and just eat locally grown veggies and meats. Maybe you stop watching TV, using the Internet and back away from purchasing new products altogether. Driving down consumerism would be the most direct way to cut Wall Street at its knees.
But then again, we’re really not about making change, right? We’re more about making noise. Which is why we’re gathering at a state-owned park in the middle of Iowa. That will surely get the attention of Big Corporate.
Maybe I should have made some suggestions on how to get by on your own in county jail.
Congrats to $trick9 and the White Poison team for their 48 Hr Film Fest submission. “Insertion” was the finest film to screen in the metro. If you haven’t already seen it, you should. It’s the best 10 minutes of your life. I’d share the link, but I’m too phased from a week of hardcore PCP usage. Still, in all its glory, it puts anything else you could possibly view to shame…including those home movies your mama shot of you as a kid.
If any of you know me, you know that my two favorite bands are Tool, Black Label Society and Mastodon. Mastodon filled the void left between Tool albums. And you also know that I’ll travel a bit to see them.
So, a while back, I started to troll on Mastodon’s forum. Most of the time, I really don’t have that much to contribute to the conversation, but I like to keep a watch on potential collectibles for sale, etc, etc.
People should be in an absolute uproar about the Tea Party. If you’re a Republican or even a moderate Conservative, it would do you a world of good to distance yourself from these lunatics. The Tea Party is essentially the 21st Century Klan and if you can’t see that for yourself, you might want to remove your hood.

Seriously. And the blood should rest on this groups collective hands. One of these “get-togethers” will end up bloody, because:
A. The people involved with the tea-party movement are ignorant bigots who are asking for it, and
B. Because no one expects it to get this out of hand.
But, it will.
I’d suggest sane-minded individuals take it upon themselves to kick a Tea Bagger in the bean bag whenever you encounter one. If you can’t shut ‘em up, maybe you can help prevent them from spreading their genetic code.
Day 1 comes to a close for tracking a new Sweet Mighty Moses song. I’m keeping a few of the details under wraps until a later date (when its finished), but that won’t be too long.
Here’s what I’ve accomplished thus far today. Drums tracked. Bass tracked, rhythm guitars done. Tomorrow, I’m looking at vocals and guitar leads. (Also, prolly some more BBQ.) Then, a mix and I should be ready to release it. If its good, and it will be, I may do a video for it.
Ready for day 2.
Happy Black Friday, y’all
That’s all we’re saying right now. Stay tuned for a new development on Friday.
If you have a free moment this week, check out the new Dead Horse Trauma album “Infestation”. It just hit the streets after an amazing CD release party Saturday night at House of Bricks.
Generally, I think of myself as a relatively progressive individual, but recently, I’ve noticed myself slipping farther and farther into my retro-grouchy ways.
For example, I got a supped-up iPhone a few months ago. I really thought it was going to be some sort of spiritual experience. As it turns out, I could care less about being that connected. The Dukeberry was bad enough, but I found myself less and less interested with the entire micro-screen connectivity experience.
For me, a phone is a phone. I value the clarity of the call and the ability for the phone to hold the call even if I roll under a canopy of trees.
So, I’m sitting here on the fence. Do I retrograde back to my old RAZR, or do I keep suffering along with the iPhone, dropping calls and letting unused data plan bites chip away at me for the next unforeseen future?
Worst case scenario, you’ll see a sweet iPhone hitting Craigslist with all the goodies for a bargain basement price.
