The internet has changed the way we communicate.
The second the very first ‘lol’ was typed our system of writing, reading, and grammatical propriety began a horrid backslide that pretty much erased hundreds of years’ worth of education and etiquette. Now I know of people who “myspace” their office mates and text message their managers. We use tacky abbreviations and “emoticons” that render Drake lawschool graduates just about as articulate as a sophomore at Scavo. Continue reading ‘Saving trees is for the Style-less’

So, amid all of the other horrible news of the day, leave it to Texas to take the cake.
Apparently staff at a state facility for the mentally and developmentally challenged were organizing after hour “fight club” battles between disabled residents.
Read all about it here…or not, its really a horrible story.
Apparently, these fights date back to 2007. The commissioner of the facility is just getting around to doing something now, like installing cameras and cracking down on those who were organizing the fights.
Can the people of Texas not act right at all?
Seriously. Without a question, the biggest wastes of space hail from that state.
Quickly, name someone who’s done some good from Texas.
Couldn’t do it, could you? See, nobody from Texas has any real sense. I mean, we have some real sickos in Iowa, but nobody is arranging brutal fights between handicapped folks in our state.

Now that the weather’s warming up I’ve got new tires on my bike and I’ve been riding to work. For the most part the automobile drivers I share the road with are respectful and cautious. But last night my husband Brandon was harassed by a pair of rednecks in a pickup truck. They first drove up alongside him and tried to startle him in to crashing. When that didn’t work, they followed him, getting menacingly close, shouting epithets. When Brandon turned a corner and disappeared behind a big tree, the guys got out of their truck to look for him.
I suspect these are the same douchebags that pulled the same crap with me late last summer.
Does anybody out there have any advice for dealing with vehicular bullies? I’m seriously considering going Q on my bike and adding some James Bond style sideways rocket launchers and exploding thumb-tack bombs to my bike.
As you may have heard, Former Gov. Rod “What the fuck is wrong with you” Blagojevich has announced his intentions to write a book that shows the “the dark side of politics that he witnessed in both the state and national level.”
Witnessed? Greasy. This is a gentleman who has been the subject of over a dozen separate federal investigations, essentially banking on the fact that he can FURTHER dupe the American public into subsidizing his absolute disdain for humanity. Maybe he (and the publisher offering him six figures) are right. Maybe we’re collectively that dumb. But it highlights how arrogant this man really is. As we grow into adulthood we are fortunate if we have not lost loved ones who are not related or died of old age. When that’s the case we have parents to take care of the social niceties that are appreciated by family and friends when a loved one passes on. Continue reading ‘Funeral Etiquete’

This is a video montage of the work Cydnie Owens did on the set of “Flick,” a film by L.K. Hickman and coproduced by Miss Nicole. The soundtrack is by Keepers of The Carpet and the footage is a video compilation of the work of a very young, talented artist who is already missed…
