Finance Friendly Fashion:

So, according to Nine, we are in an economic recession.

That means that I’m going to have to keep the smack and blow purely sexual-no frivolous spending!

That’s gonna be tough, so, like many girls, I’m going to focus on my closet.

A typical distraction-one of my most constant joys.

But that means spending tons of cash on a new spring wardrobe….or does it?

I went through my own closet, made a quick assessment, and have a few ideas to share. Over the next week I’ll be giving advice on where to spend, where to save, and how to score cheap, free, or “other” goods.

Today:

1. Quality > Quantity when it comes to….

Denim:

Scour sale racks and websites to grab designer denim for a steal. Bide your time and wait for great deals to come along. Email me at: misnicolerae@gmail.com for invitations to a great website that weekly provides you with deep discounts on your favorite designers in your sizes and styles! The idea is that these jeans will flatter you, last forever, and always feel great. Buy one pair every so often instead of getting a bunch of cheap crap you’ll wear once. You’ll save space, spend less in the long run, and be less likely to put on/lose extra weight because you won’t wanna grow out of your new favorite jeans!

Handbags:

Don’t go cheap with a bag. Again, sale racks at Von Maur and Dillards will give you a chance to find the perfect spring treat without killing your clothing allowance. But, like jeans, you want to purchase quality goods-these bags will last forever! The sturdy construction and durable stitching can guarantee these purses can carry anything from your laptop to water bottles without coming apart. Keep an eye out for unique handbags of sizes, colors, or shapes that you don’t already own. The idea is to build up a collection of fantastic bags that reflect your personal style-you can carry them for years!

Sunglasses:

Not only are sunglasses a fabulous way to freshen a spring wardrobe, but a quality pair will shield eyes from the sun’s damaging rays. This has a longterm bonus of protecting your vision AND keeping you from squinting-which will keep you from getting wrinkles. You may be spending a little extra cash now, but you’re saving on lasik vision correction, botox, chemical peels, etc.  Vogue Vision can help you out with this spring “must”-the first weekend in April this vision chain will be hosting their annual trunk show with sales of up to 50% off of crazy fantastic designers. You can rock a new pair of D&G’s like me, score some candy colored wayfarers like I’ve seen celebrities like Beyonce snapped in, or get some sweet aviators like Duke. Details below:
