I can’t wait until they give stimuli to uh, well, umm, let’s see 1 trillion for uh, yeah, OK I can’t remember what they are going to stimulate other than Government. I do know 300 million is just to follow where the stimulus money goes, that’s money well spent, right?
1100 pages of the biggest expenditure in world history and nobody’s read it, not even the guys that created it, that is damn disturbing. There maybe is a place and need to spend a lot but they did not ask me what I want to work the rest of my life for nor my daughter whom will be the bearer of the cost.
We all belong to a society and it has been a great experiment. Someday I will post all of the amazing advances that private industry and personal invention has done for humanity, but for now let’s say America has been the most contributing and generous society in history.
Is that a system worth saving or changing? Shall it all be turned over to Big Brother to squelch advancement?
Socialism is apparently 51 percent of American’s idea of advancement (according to the last Presidential race numbers) but when we look at socialist countries we find lack of freedom and lesser living conditions than in the great USA.
Sure we can find faults in everything from corperate greed to a probing centralist government that uses the Patriot Act to spy on us. We use more energy than the rest of the people on Earth but we also are the police of the rest of the non-contributing world, we came up with modern medicine to heal and methods of farming to feed the world. We have stepped in at moments in history that saved the Earth from tyrannical dictators and evil regimes. We have shown it is possible to go from a third world economy to a Superpower. Wew are the most charitable nation the Earth has ever seen. This Nation, conservative and liberal alike have created the best living conditions ever -EVER! America is worth fighting for and worth changing for the better.
Why is our current government risking this historical society to create a dependent people relying on a wealth redistributing bunch of thieves in Congress. If you think, yeah we should help and take from the rich and give to the poor in a valiant Robin Hood sort of way, then let’s see you hand a homeless guy your next paycheck, he deserves it right?
I have a cousin that works hard, takes care of his kids, and raises them in an honorable way. His brother who is the exact opposite. Scott does the right thing and is very compassionate to his family and gives freely to those in need. Phil sits in his parents home and smoke cigarettes all day. Scott has a responsible and loving relationship with his kids, Phil has burned all his bridges with family. Both grew up dirt poor and Phil went to the Marines in the 80′s and got electronics and radar training and has a photographic memory. Scott was forced to quit school got his GED and has scratched out a living in electronics in the private sector now working on ATM’s. Both have great IQ’s but not equal common sense and both are pleasant friendly people. Phil is like 46 years old and Scott is like 43. Scott built a house near Easter Lake and Phil had to move in with his parents because he will not get a job. Why should Scott work so hard, Phil work so little (like not at all) and yet be viewed by the Government as equal. One is a contributing member of society and one is a bum straight up. The stimulus is this – Scott has to pay for Phil’s lazy ass.
Socialism is wrong and unconstitutional. The stimulus is stealing.
I am neither Democrat nor Republican and I can assure you I am a true patriot. The great people of the USA need to look deep and decide if it should be the USSA or not. As the list of the spending frenzy unveils itself we shall see what kind of change we are going to get.
As I see it Obama ran on a new Washington, not the same old way of doing business, however this is all done in haste and secrecy. How is that change, and how is wealth redistribution not stealing?
Look, first of all nothing about the stimulus plan has been ‘secret’. Most importantly, it is a necessity born from a lack of oversight and capitalistic greed. We are merely paying for our excesses and thank god that Obama has the guts and wisdom to do it. This is a great country and I believe our greatest moments are ahead of us. We are not even close to socialism, read Karl Marx if you disagree. The Country will be that much stronger if the stimulus gets Phil a job.
The stimulus is no secret, then what’s in it?
The fact is the bill was written in closed door meetings and media was not allowed in, not unlike the past. No change.
However unlike the past, large bills would be made electronic for keyword searches and to make the task of interpreting feesable, this bill was intentionally only distributed in print. 1100 pages of the worlds biggest bill pushed through a partisan government with no prior review and distributed in the worst possible medium.
They don’t want us to review it because it would be bad press. There is very little stimulus in the bill that we have found yet, but hey they are still searching. I mean, hey man, it already passed, too late now. Would you sign a contract for a cell phone without reading it? We may have just done more damage then we will know for a decade?
I do not care what side of the isle you are on or if you are endeared to Marx or not this is just irresponsible behavior.
Part of Socialism is government owning business and people the workers, we just set the president for Government to bail out private business to create more workers and unconstitutionally at that. Karl Marx had a great ideal but in practice it looks like Stalin’s Russia, so read some of Stalin’s rise to power or better yet look at Lenin’s rise and see how freedom of people were squashed.
The difference in Liberalism and Conservatism in philosophy is Liberal start with the worldview that all people are inherently good and therefore we must not limit man, Conservatives worldview is man is fallen and not good by nature and need limits. We have wars just proves that truth.
History shows liberalism fails as a policy every where it is practiced (I am not speaking here of classical liberalism but the humanist liberalism which has existed for the last 100 years in politics).
Phil needs to get Phil a job not the Government. The fact is Phil is free to get a job, has training, is healthy and lives in a land of opportunity (the gov gave him all that mind you), but he does not work by his own choice. Phil can have a job handed to him, and he has many times, but he will not get up and go after a week or two. Say the Gov gets Phil a job, he goes a few weeks, quits going to that job, should he not get fired? Say now he is fired, should the Gov spend resources and more money getting him another, a few weeks another, a few weeks another… how many times? What if he just refuses to go? We taught the man to fish for God’s sake.
Those that won’t work will still take handouts. (He is my family and I love him so I am not just bashing Phil, he is just a good analogy)

Why is capitalistic greed worse than governmental greed? I never seen a company put my country in a TRILLION DOLLAR DEBT! Greed is greed if it’s Corp., Gov., or Private.
Fed Ex (Capitalist) is a muli-million dollar buisness and gaining, US Post Office (Government) was in the red 35 million dollars in 2008, how does the Gov. do it? It works so much better when the Government creates jobs because even if they fail they don’t fail. What? There is not an endless supply of money. Currency must be based on something. We are printing 900 BILLION DOLLARS based on nothing. That is going to crash the economy for good. It can never be paid. I do agree we live in excess which will be our undoing, but we are also the most charitable nation ever. A love affair for materialism started the whole thing, umm greed.
The Phil’s of this world are greedy too, they make us work for them. Selfish is a form of greed right? The country would be stronger if it forced Phil to work. He has not paid his child support and his kids are married now. He owes the State of Iowa for that, which is my money. We would be stronger if he got his bum ass up and found a job without the government spending all this money on doing it for him don’t you think?
I am not a hater, I just love America sooo much. I believe the Constitution is the best document man has devised and we would do well to stick to it. You know it limits government not people. I just want us to succeed because I think the diversity of thought and culture is rare and makes us stronger. We should have pride in our nation, not bash it with words that are negative. There are negatives in all things but as a unified people we should look for the positive things and work for the long term goal of Utopia which can only exist with Liberty. Socialism steals Liberty and individualism. It thwarts our efforts to remain a free poeple – from the revolution to the Civil Right March we beg to be free. Peace.

i’m trying to buy a house this year so i think the stimulus package is great! on the real, one reason i like obama is he invites us NOT to be freeloaders. through all the trials and tragedies of the last 8 years, president bush never asked us to pitch in. he asked us to keep shopping. he asked us to be good consumers. but he didn’t ask us to engage the problems. on MLK day, before obama was even elected he was asking us to pitch in (see the Day of Service post). look at the way obama ran his campaign. hillary had all the money and all the resources in the world. obama was able to summon us to a common purpose. eventually he was able to raise more money through many many small donations. and he spent it in a judicious and effective manner. i believe all that shit about a rising tide lifting all boats. and i think obama believes all that shit about power coming from the bottom up rather than from the top down. if my president shows me a way to help my neighbor i’ll do it trusting that people ARE inherently good. MLK said “the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends towards justice.” and i believe that shit too. and if the rapture happens in 2012 it’s totally going to be sarah palin’s fault.

If socialism is distributing taxes as the government sees fit, then I’m pretty sure we’ve been socialist for a long time. I actually have a card issued from the pre-Obama govn’t that says SOCIAL right on it.
There are degrees of any ideology, and consider me from the camp that sees the danger of being to deep either way. Considering we’ve voted these people in, they’ve publicized their “theft” for some time with no recourse and passed it legally– I’m pretty sure I disagree wholly with your summation. Theft was a war decided on unilaterally at the price of $2 billion PER WEEK, but few came up with any catchy names for that.
IMO, whether “right” or “wrong” in economic terms, or the terms that you or I might feel are supposed to guide our governing, I think this stimulus is an attempt to retain all those things you seem to love about America. No one has boundless reasoning, though you may disagree with their pretenses.
Obama isn’t evil– he isn’t trying to lead you towards cannibalism and child rape. This is his, and a majority of congress’s attempt to keep us in the game. To save that America we all jerk off to nightly, full of founding modern medicine and saving the world.
We’re in times we’ve never really seen. Your guess is certainly no better than the experts. And, though it may FEEL wrong to you, that doesn’t mean it actually is. I think I would have voted against it too, honestly. I feel its been rushed and it’s just too damn big to rush. But I think I disagree with WHY you disagree with it.
You say you’ve never seen a company put a country in a trillion dollar debt but that’s simply because that’s impossible. I’ve never seen a company take a shit on my head. Its not because they wouldn’t do it.

I will always put IMO in my comments when I have no fact to back up my comments, otherwise there is factual data that I have researched to come to the conclusion (the truth is sometimes hard to take I know).
I watch all sorts of news and listen to a wide variety of Liberal and Conservative programming all day every day like NPR, Drudge, BBC, CNS, CNN, Fox News, Jan Mikelson, Bradshaw, Manny Davis, Glenn Beck and a whole host of others ( Rarely Rush or Hannity or Savage or MSNBC because they are typically too arrogant) to get a big picture and weed out the crap, which is most of the news. I also read read read history books and philosophy and different theologies. So I hope I don’t get taken as an uninformed right wing anti everything kook, because I am only a right wing Independant with Libertarian leanings and more clown like then kook.
I love the fact we are able to speak and let others speak their mind here. I do not expect many of the liberal crowd and even moderates to agree with a lot of what I present but I appreciate the honesty of what they think and it helps me in my research for truth, and I can be persuaded with facts to change my opinions.
I grew up with parents that did not graduate school and were dirt poor, never had many opportunities to get into collage but for 20 years I have been on a theological and political quest to find the truth and have been mostly self educated.
I promise White Poison to never attack personally any members and give every chance for debate, I ask the same in turn. I have a lot to say though most is not popular thought, if people are willing to think with an open mind and not get crazy angry with me just because I am a Constitutionalist, we will have some great discussions.
If you comment on my thoughts please have thick skin, I can’t take whiners, I have a 13 year old girl and that’s about all the sniveling I can take in a given day. This is as good a place as any to be opinionated though, so please comment.
