Here we go. My 10 Favorite Films of 2008. Based solely on enjoyment.
10. Burn After Reading
Filled with interesting characters, a great premise, and a very unexpected twist. J.K. Simmons stood out for me in a very deep ensemble cast.
9. Tropic Thunder
I thought this movie was one of the funniest I’ve seen in awhile and it stood out in a year full of comedies.
8. Snow Angels
Heart breaking film with some of the best acting I saw all year.
7. Son of Rambow
Very original and funny. A great look into a child’s fantasy world.
6. Zack and Miri Make A Porno
I laughed so hard I think I pissed off people sitting around me in the theater. I’m an unashamed Kevin Smith fanboy and this delivered on a lot of levels for me.
5. Iron Man
One of the best comic book movies I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen almost all of them.
4. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
This movie feels so different from anything else I’ve seen in awhile. It’s one that will stick around in my mind for the years to come.
3. Ghost Town
This could have been a very ordinary film if not for Ricky Gervais. I thought it was the most charming and humorous film I saw last year. While it wasn’t as laugh out loud funny as Tropic Thunder or Zack and Miri, it felt a more complete film than the other two.
2. In Bruges
In the world of dark comedies, this is one of my favorites. In Bruges uses the titular city to it’s full potential.
1. The Dark Knight
I know, I know. Very original. But sometimes the masses are right. I enjoyed it all; the acting, the action, the story, Nolan’s directing, and overall the mood and pace of the film.
Honorable Mentions: Quantum of Solace, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Where In The World Is Osama Bin Laden?, Traitor, Step Brothers, The Bank Job
What are some of your favorite films of 2008?

Good list!
I would definitely put Burn After Reading in my top 3, but probably because I am a giant Coen Brothers douche.
…but where is Pineapple Express?? I laughed nearly non-stop through out that entire movie. Deserves at least a mention!
Pineapple Express was hilarious but I saw it after 2008 proper ended. I’m kind of a stickler about my top 10 list having only movies I saw that year in it. I’m a big Coen brothers fan as well, especially Miller’s Crossing, Raising Arizona, and The Ladykillers. It was a tough year to make a top 10.
